Track #1014 New Hills

This is the first, 16.26 lap time, but parts of the track are getting old. like the hairpin in the foreground, overall, a nice track.

Track #1013 No you Don't

This is nice, only 75 feet long, but the Hairpin in the foreground, and the tightened Right turn in the back left look like you can take them at high speed, but No you Don't
16.91 Lap time, so far.

It's Not Paper!

I keep hearing comments about the "paper" track, let's clarify,
The Track is made from PVC plastic, very thin, and the Gradient is printed on the pieces.
It is far tougher than people say, just don't be stupid.
Don't step on it
Don't get Drunk and step on it.
Don't let your pets near the track.
Clean your track with soap and water, don't use any abrasives, you will destroy the gradient.
I have had at least a dozen "spinouts" where the track got stepped on and slipped, but after a year of track building and damaging, I have broken 4 tabs, out of around 300, tough track indeed.
Even If, I tore all the tabs off, I still have my go to Painters Blue Tape.
It holds the track together very well, leaves no residue and comes off easily.
So the next time you hear about paper track, send that guy over here,

A note to Viewers

Hi, Bob here, thought it might be important to remind people of a few things.

I started doing this just about a year ago, and this is post 167 or so. If you are just coming over here, I have TONS of tips, hints, how to's and other Cool stuff, it's all in the archives.
I don't do a lot of close ups now, it's all in the Archive. I also assume if people have questions they will comment (nope) or look through the Blog, just about everything that can be done, I have done it, Caveat, in the Racing sense, not the Evel Knievel sense.
I really enjoy the System, if a car leaves the track, just drive back on, I don't have to walk over and get it. With fresh Batteries you will spin, so you have to work the throttle for a while before they break in, Sort of like a race car burning off a fuel load, the handling also changes.
Too Much?

How much track can you cram into a 14'x22' space? I can probably pack in a bit more but Why? It's long sure but if you are constantly fighting, turning and breaking, it gets old quick. BTW, 120+ feet. Build your tracks with FLOW, it's all about how how one turn leads into another, I throw in a few Easter eggs along the way just to keep you on your toes, but that's my Smart ass nature.
I'll see if I can collect some tips into a section that's easier to navigate, but the fact is, this Blog is a giant Manual, use it at your own risk,

Track #1011

This one is actually close to 100 feet long, and you can't run the Banking full speed without slapping the wall, so the whole track is a challenge.

The big Banks

Shallow banked Hairpin

The hardest turn, if you miss, you will not be timed and it will cost you not one but 2 laps before you are timed again, These are my favorite type of turns, you have to drive through, not just fly around. 20.63 lap time

Track #1010 The UnSquare

This is a cool track, it is truly out of square,
Check it out,
Well, the Big outside First turn is technically square
But I hope you see the point,
Drive just a little outside and you hit the Apex at the end perfect.

The rest are just Zoomy fast turns but always with a variation.
All of this was done with normal track pieces, the exception is my custom cut 1/16th pieces, which can just be done by overlapping normal 1/8th turns.

Lap times at 17.30, which puts this track at about 95-100 ft. long,
Video soon?

Rant

I wish Hot Wheels would get a clue.
They could market to Slot Drivers with, IMO, good results, Jeez look what I did.
My entire setup, cars, track, banking and misc, was about 700$ US which isn't that much for a Guy My age, I have R/C Airplanes that cost that much, but whatever.
Many think Hot wheels and imagine I'm racing little tiny cars, it can be hard to wrap around peoples heads, even with video, they aren't small cars.
There is so much potential for League Racing etc. I  can't figure out why HW isn't trying dominate a new Toy factor,
/Rant off

Track #1007 Omicron

I Cleaned the track today, All of it, well 120/157 pieces, wow what a mess.
I have done it several times already but today it took about 3 hours and a bunch of work/shop towels and Mr. Clean diluted, but the difference is clear.
The track had become very slippery, and when I started cleaning, you could see the dirt at the track overlap, it was bad.
I went ahead and swept the entire Facility, and built a nice trademark,
UPLAND SPEEDWAY Circuit.
Only 60 or so feet, it's real sweet and Flowing, I started at a 12.94 and after 50 laps and 5 different cars, Gordon got an 11.92, there are no slow sections, and you can go as fast as you dare, Ballsy to say the least,
Enjoy

Track #1006 the Iteration

A bit compact, which is to say short, only 65 ft. or so, But I took some time smoothing it out to get a nice flowing track.

This one is all flat, most good designs don't need banking, though sometimes banks are a Kickass! Not like I don't have 3 or 4 or 14.
As you may see, I changed the section right after the start/finish line, and kept more speed that way.
Current record is 14.52 seconds

I may change another section later But...
I find my cars spinning out far more than normal, diagnosis, Dirty Track.
I have cleaned all 147 or so pieces several times, but never seen it this bad.
I'll have take it down and clean, which takes about 2 hours, I never thought it would make such a difference, yet it does,
VIDEO SOON!
